Southampton sees Arsenal off in 2-0 victory

Photos of the day - January 1, 2015

Call me a psychic. Call me a witch or whatever, but when I heard They will not control us. We will be victorious. I went ‘Oh oh, Arsenal is in trouble’.

And in trouble they were!

Sadio Mané scored the opener in the 34′ from an improbably tight angle. You’ll have to see that goal to appreciate it. It was sublimely beautiful.

I don’t know what Szczesny was doing for that goal though. He thought he was Hugo Lloris and rushed out leaving the net unguarded.

Joking aside, Fraser Forster was absolute beast today! He kept his side in the game with his quality saves.

Dusan Tadic put away Southampton’s 2nd in the 56′ when Debuchy and Szczesny failed to deal with Steven Davis’ right-wing cross. In the 65′ a Koscielny pass was intercepted by Tadic who found Pelle but Debuchy headed a clear goal bound opportunity off the line. It was a super off the line clearance and I begged to ask where in the world was Szczesny’s head?

Before I go, two things: how ugly is that shirt on Szczesny and how seriously is effective and underrated is Victor Wanyama?

That victory give Southampton their 7th home win of the season.

Southampton 2-0 Arsenal: Mane & Tadic condemn Gunners to defeat

The game was highly entertaining and although Southampton deserved the win, Arsenal could have done better. It was the first time in 12 years since Arsenal was beaten at St. Mary’s.

I know how you feel Monsieur Wenger:
