“Even with a man down, PSG was still better than Chelsea. I congratulate my players, I am deeply touched. I’m speechless.”
– Laurent Blanc
Last week when Cavani equalized in the home match against Chelsea, I said he was throwing PSG a lifeline and not to depend on his goals at Stamford Bridge because they won’t come. I said the team had to deliver if they want to progress to the quarters and Paris Saint-Germain did just that last evening.
Zlatan came off in the 32nd minute, yet, Chelsea under-performed against a 10-man PSG. I am still in my celebratory mood, so I won’t be able to write a proper report, but Luiz and Silva scored the vital goals (no penalties) to ensure PSG’s progress to the quarters. A job well done boys. A job well done.
“PSG’s best player tonight was Laurent Blanc. He motivated us so much and showed us videos of Chelsea. We studied them well.”
– Thiago Silva
“There’s no one like you, Lord! God is faithful!
– David Luiz
“When the red card happened the worst thing was the Chelsea players. I felt there were 11 babies around me.”

> PSG players will each receive an estimated £180,000 bonus after progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals.
After the match Laurent Blanc said:
“The players produced an extraordinary match, from start to finish. I enjoyed looking at the statistics. We had as much possession as them, made more passes and had more corners than Chelsea. We were ruthlessly efficient. It’s a great evening for all those that love this club. It’s a great joy. We received a real blow when Zlatan was sent off in the 31stminute. But I felt that the players weren’t about to panic. When a club qualifies like that, it’s that everyone played well. There will be more great matches to come. We are very happy.”
“We have done something… incredible! Eliminate the Premier League leader, with ten men against 11 is incredible. We saw two excellent performances by Paris, in the first leg and in the second. We’re qualified for the quarter-finals. We have been there the last two seasons. Now we have to go further. It’s an amazing sensation, really; it’s exceptional!”
So incredible for French football that I am still rejoicing.
