He is not the ‘French Messi’; he’s just Fekir

“I have the same eyes for Fekir as the president of Barcelona has for a small Argentine who relies heavily on his left foot. He is my Messi. In a match he is capable, like Lionel Messi, of shaking things up.”

– Jean-Michel Aulas (Lyon president)

People are taking notice of our precious gem, Nabil Fekir.

Fekir and Lacazette are the deadliest duo in the Ligue 1 this season with 34 goals (Lacazette is the top scorer with 23 goals; Fekir is the 3rd top with 11 goals) between them and they’re getting on like a house on fire.

Fekir got his 1st cap for Les Bleus in the 3-1 defeat against Brazil on Thursday. When France take on Denmark on Sunday, he is expected to start from the bench. I have nicknames for the special footballers in my life and Fekir is a gem. Therefore, I dub thee, our very own Hikari (Light). Stick around, I’m hardly ever wrong when it comes to minding my team’s business.

STAT ATTACK! according to Squawka:

Nabil Fekir has scored a goal, played a key pass or made an assist on average once every 45.2 mins in Ligue 1 this season.

And this via

Don’t put any label on him and don’t pressure him. He had enough of that while choosing to represent France/Algeria. He is not the next Zidane, he is not the French Messi – although his dribbling is mazy amazing – nor is he the next anybody. He is Fekir and he is here to make a name for himself.

And remember we’re #TeamFekir.
