Before I do this, I want to do this: Neymar cut his hair and I think I like it:
It wasn’t a good weekend for FC Barcelona as the injuries continue to pile up. Lionel Messi was injured early in the game against Las Palmas and had to be replaced by Munir. Leo was tackled by Javi Varas after taking the ball down with a sublime touch inside the area. Leo had to be attended by physicians, but he managed to get to his feet a minute or so later. Four minutes later, he cannot continue and asks to be taken off with a knee injury.
There went my footballing weekend!
Although Leo came off injured, I still had to support my team, because it’s not about Messi although he is our talisman and dare I say, salvation most of the time. ANY WAY, a backheel from Munir, cross from Sergi Roberto into the area, Suarez lifts himself and headed home the lead in the 25th minute. 35th minute finds an unlucky Viera having ter Stegen save his fantastic shot. WHAT A FANTASTIC GOAL THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN!! In the 54th minute, Neymar clips a curling pass to Munir who cuts inside the box and lays it off, Busquets dummies it allowing Suarez to BANG home his second goal! WHAT A TEAM GOAL!!
In the 64th minute, Suarez shows off his keepy-uppy skills inside the area, only to have Alcarez hit the ball away with his hand. Ref points to the spot and Neymar steps up, only to end up skying the penalty. Suarez had given the penalty to Neymar, but I think Suarez should’ve stepped up and tried to claim his hat-trick. In the 84th minute, Mascherano almost opens his account for Barcelona, but Javi Varas is there to make the save. Four minutes later, Las Palmas got one back through Jonathan Viera after Mascherano gave the ball away in midfield to the visitors. Viera shoots and it takes a deflection off Pique for 2-1.
The Man of the Match was Sergi Roberto. He had a solid game. This victory was for Leo and the fans. Reports said he’ll be out 7-8 weeks with a tear in the internal collateral ligament of his left knee and after his visit at the hospital, he returned to the Camp Nou to watch the remainder of the game. Leo will miss games against Bayer Leverkusen (CL), Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano, Bate (CL), Getafe, Bate (CL) and Villarreal for Barcelona and two for Argentina. He might be back in time for El Clasico in November.
Recover well, Leo.
